If your car feels smooth at 35 mph but starts doing the “steering wheel shimmy” at 55–70 mph, you’re not imagining it. High-speed shaking is one of those symptoms that can go from mildly annoying to genuinely unsafe, fast.

Worn suspension makes your car harder to control and wastes more gas. When suspension parts get old, your car may take longer to stop, feel shaky in turns, or skid more easily on wet roads.

To detect and fix suspension noises, start with a visual inspection for worn bushings or loose components. Listen for specific sounds: clunking usually indicates loose parts, while squeaking may suggest a lack of lubrication.
